The Countryside Stewardship Hedgerows and Boundaries Grant Scheme opened for applications on 1st February 2016. The application window closes on 30th April.

The scheme offers a range of options to applicants whose SBI is not in Environmental Stewardship (ELS or HLS), multi-year Countryside Stewardship Scheme, or English Woodland Grant Scheme on their land on 1st July 2016.

The options include hedgerow laying, coppicing, gapping up and planting. There are also six options relating to stone walls and banks.

An application can be made now with agreement offers expected in July. Alternatively, if eligible to apply for Countryside Stewardship Mid-Tier or Higher Tier this year to start on 1st January 2017, the Hedgerow and Boundary options can be included in that or applied for under the Hedgerows and Boundaries Scheme, followed by a Mid-Tier or Higher-Tier application without including these options.
